Craft Attendant - Cable Team Electricity - MU628

Job Purpose: Support the electricity cable team by helping install, maintain and repair underground cables and equipment, working alongside skilled craftspeople to keep essential services running smoothly across the Island.  

Duties    
- Support cable jointing and electrical work with a qualified Craftsman
- Prepare tools, equipment and materials ready for jobs
- Help install underground cables, racking, clamping and related equipment
- Assist with installing metering and electrical equipment (non-live work)
- Load, unload and transport tools, materials and team members
- Drive and maintain work vehicles (up to 3,500kg), including safety checks
- Set up and clear work sites, keeping areas tidy and safe
- Help erect scaffolding and prepare excavation areas
- Carry out basic tasks like cleaning, grounds work and general support duties
- Follow health & safety rules and carry out risk checks before work starts
- Complete basic paperwork and use communication equipment
- Work with other teams, customers and contractors when needed
- Be flexible to work outdoors, at height and occasionally out of hours

Essential Skills
- Full, clean driving licence
- Good level of physical fitness
- Willingness to learn and take part in training
- Able to work well in a team
- Flexible approach to working hours (including out of hours when needed)
- Good communication skills in busy environments
- Strong commitment to health and safety

Desirable Skills
- Basic electrical experience or knowledge
- Basic construction experience or knowledge
- Understanding of health & safety practices
