Countryside Operative – DOEF-025506

Job Purpose: Help maintain the Island’s forests, glens and other public countryside areas. This is a practical, year-round outdoor role working as part of a small team.

Duties:
- Maintain countryside areas through mowing, planting, tree work and litter collection.
- Build and repair paths, trails, fences, gates and signs.
- Use and look after tools, equipment and vehicles safely.
- Help protect the countryside from invasive plants, pests, disease and weather damage.

Essential Skills:
- A full, valid car driving licence.
- Able to carry out physical work outdoors in all weathers, including lifting up to 20 kg.
- Able to follow health and safety guidance and work with minimal supervision after training.
- Clear communication, problem-solving skills and a flexible approach to teamwork.
- Able to complete basic forms and willing to use a computer for occasional work tasks.

Desirable Skills:
- Forestry or countryside training or qualifications.
- Experience in similar work, or using tractors or motorised power tools.
- Isle of Man Worker status.
