Job Purpose: Provide high-quality, person-centred care and support to older people living in the community, helping them maintain their independence, dignity and quality of life while remaining in their own homes for as long as possible.   

Duties  
- Provide person-centred care and support to service users in their own homes.
- Support people with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation and household tasks.
- Encourage and promote independence by supporting service users to do as much as possible for themselves.
- Administer medication and assist with medication management in line with Manx Care policies.
- Support people with complex needs, including dementia, mobility difficulties and long-term health conditions.
- Carry out basic health-related tasks, including monitoring wellbeing and completing assessments where trained.
- Maintain accurate paper and electronic care records.
- Report any changes in a service user's health or circumstances to the appropriate manager.
- Work closely with families, carers and other healthcare professionals.
- Attend service user reviews and discharge planning meetings when required.
- Work safely as a lone worker while following all health and safety procedures.
- Participate in training, team meetings and professional development activities.
- Work flexibly across the Island and provide support during evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays as required.

Essential Skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Outlook and mobile technology.
- Ability to work independently and use your own initiative.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Commitment to completing the Care Certificate if not already achieved.
- Commitment to achieving an RQF Level 3 qualification if not already held.
- Reliable, trustworthy and professional approach.
- Caring, compassionate and person-centred attitude.
- Ability to respond calmly in emergency situations.
- Full valid driving licence with access to your own vehicle.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays.
- Physically able to carry out the duties of the role.
- Satisfactory Police Check.

Desirable Skills
- NVQ Level 3 / RQF (QCF) Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care.
- Basic First Aid qualification.
- Safer People Moving and Handling training.
- Dementia Awareness training.
- Experience supporting vulnerable people in the community.
- Experience supporting older people with complex needs.
- Awareness of dignity, choice and respect in care.
- Ability to communicate effectively with families and other professionals.
- Isle of Man Worker status.

Salary & benefits

£29,336 - £35,386 pro rata per annum
