Job Purpose: Work as part of a team to keep the school clean, safe and hygienic, supporting staff and students by maintaining high standards across the site.
Duties
- Clean classrooms, corridors and shared areas (sweeping, mopping, dusting, polishing and vacuuming).
- Clean toilets, showers and wash areas to a high standard.
- Empty bins and dispose of waste safely.
- Use cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaners, scrubbers and polishers.
- Follow health and safety rules, including safe use of cleaning products.
- Report any hazards, damage or maintenance issues.
- Help keep areas free from clutter and safe to use.
- Support opening/closing of the site when needed.
- Move furniture or equipment when required.
- Work flexibly as part of the team and help cover when others are absent.
- Communicate politely with staff, students and visitors.
- Follow safeguarding rules and report any concerns.
Essential Skills
- Previous cleaning experience.
- Able to use cleaning equipment and follow instructions.
- Good communication skills with adults and young people.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable, organised and able to manage your own workload.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Understand the importance of hygiene and high standards.
- Respectful, supportive and able to work well with others.
- Able to work safely and follow procedures.
- Physically able to carry out cleaning tasks.
- Able to handle cleaning materials and chemicals safely.
- Willing to complete safeguarding checks.
Desirable Skills
- First Aid Certificate.
- Knowledge of health and safety and COSHH.
- Experience planning cleaning tasks and prioritising work.
- Experience working in a school or similar environment.
