Job Purpose: To plan and deliver fun, safe and inclusive sports activities for children aged 5–11, supporting Sports Development initiatives and promoting an active, healthy lifestyle.
Duties
- Plan and deliver engaging sports activities for children aged 5–11.
- Support the lead coach with session delivery, including setting up equipment, taking registers and supervising breaks.
- Help deliver Sports Development programmes, including School Holiday Programmes and other initiatives.
- Promote healthy and active lifestyles to all participants.
- Ensure equipment is available, used safely and stored correctly.
- Maintain a safe, inclusive and enjoyable environment for all children.
- Undertake training and professional development when required.
- Carry out other duties as directed by the Sports Development Team.
Essential Skills
- Relevant National Governing Body Level One coaching qualification.
- Up-to-date Safeguarding and Protecting Children qualification.
- Up-to-date First Aid qualification (minimum 3-hour Emergency Aid).
- Experience delivering sports coaching to children aged 5–11.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work with large groups of children, independently or as part of a team.
- Self-motivated and able to motivate others.
- Genuine enthusiasm for sport and physical activity.
Desirable Skills
- Experience working with children and young people with disabilities.
- Experience dealing with parents.
- Knowledge of a variety of sports.
- Ability to maintain accurate records.
- Local knowledge of sports and sports development initiatives on the Island.
- Full driving licence with access to a vehicle.
