Job Purpose: To co-ordinate and track cancer patients along their treatment pathway, ensuring MDT meetings are well organised, records are accurate and up to date, and cancer waiting times are monitored so patients receive safe, timely and well-planned care.
Duties
- Organise and attend cancer Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) meetings, set up rooms, provide admin support and record accurate outcomes and decisions.
- Collate, update and maintain patient information on the Somerset Cancer Register (SCR) and other patient administration systems.
- Track patients along their pathway, monitor Cancer Waiting Times (CWTs) and highlight delays or issues to the Cancer MDT and Patient Tracking Manager.
- Provide clear, timely information on tracked patients to Cancer Services managers and clinical teams.
- Communicate effectively with clinical and non-clinical staff, including tertiary centres, to support smooth patient pathways.
- Build strong working relationships across Cancer Services and wider departments, supporting shared goals and service improvements.
- Support and help train new colleagues within the Cancer Services Team, and provide cross-cover during leave or busy periods.
- Work within Manx Care and Isle of Man Government policies, managing a busy workload, changing priorities and sensitive information safely and confidentially.
Essential Skills
- Strong organisation and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise work and meet tight deadlines in a target-driven environment.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail, able to work to precision with minimal day-to-day supervision.
- Confident user of IT systems, including Microsoft Word and Excel, and able to learn new clinical or admin systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to build supportive, professional relationships at all levels.
- Calm, friendly and reliable under pressure, able to manage competing demands in an emotive healthcare environment.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team, organising tasks towards shared goals.
- Open, honest and professional approach, with positive energy, drive and a willingness to support change and improvement.

- Satisfactory Police Check.
Desirable skills
- 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade C/4 or above including English and Maths.
- Experience of working in an office, ideally in healthcare administration.
- Experience of accurate data entry for both quantitative and qualitative information.
- Experience of assessing risk and handling sensitive medical records or personal data in line with policy.
- Understanding of cancer terminology and/or practical knowledge of the Somerset Cancer Register (SCR).
- Experience of liaising with internal and external stakeholders, including challenging customers or clients.
- Experience of taking minutes in formal meetings.
- Willingness to attend off-island training or conferences to support innovation and service improvement.
- Demonstrated interest in health and social care, and/or Isle of Man worker status.
This is a limited term contract (LTC) for 6 months.
