Job Purpose: Join the Department of Infrastructure as an Apprentice Engineering Craftsperson on a four-year apprenticeship. You will combine practical workplace training with one day a week at University College Isle of Man (UCM), working towards a City & Guilds Technical Certificate while learning to service, maintain and repair Government vehicles, plant and equipment.
Duties
- Complete the four-year apprenticeship programme and work towards becoming a qualified Engineering Craftsperson.
- Attend University College Isle of Man (UCM) on day release as part of your apprenticeship.
- Learn to service, maintain and repair Government vehicles, plant and equipment.
- Work alongside experienced technicians as part of a professional workshop team.
- Learn to maintain workshop tools, plant and equipment.
- Keep your work area clean, safe and organised.
- Use tools, equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) safely and correctly.
- Take responsibility for the security and condition of allocated tools, vehicles and equipment.
- Complete apprenticeship logbooks and records of projects and skills gained.
- Attend training courses, toolbox talks and briefing sessions.
- Complete timesheets, holiday requests and other required paperwork accurately.
- Work flexibly, including evenings and Saturdays when required to meet operational needs.
- Carry out other related duties as directed by the Head of Fleet Services.

- Full valid UK/Isle of Man driving licence.
- Isle of Man Worker status.
