Apprentice Joiner

The opportunity: Descon is looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Apprentice Joiner to join its experienced team.
This is a practical, hands-on opportunity for someone who would like to begin a career in joinery and office interiors. The successful applicant will learn how to install, fit and finish a range of workplace furniture, storage systems and interior products.
The work may differ from traditional building-site joinery, as projects will primarily involve fitting out and improving offices and other commercial working environments.
What you could be doing:
Working alongside experienced members of the Descon team, your duties may include:
• Assisting with the installation of office furniture, storage systems and interior fittings
• Learning how to measure, prepare, cut, assemble and fit materials accurately
• Using hand and power tools safely and correctly
• Helping to read plans, drawings and product specifications
• Preparing equipment and materials for each project
• Working at customer premises across the Isle of Man
• Keeping work areas clean, organised and safe
• Handling products carefully and maintaining a high standard of workmanship
• Learning about workplace health and safety
• Supporting the wider team with office fit-out projects
Full training and supervision will be provided.

Previous joinery experience is not essential, although experience gained through school, college, work experience or personal projects would be helpful.
A driving licence would be advantageous but is not essential.
Training: The successful applicant will be supported to attend the part-time Joinery Apprenticeship course at UCM alongside their workplace training.
