Job Purpose: Join Shared Fleet Services as an Apprentice HGV Technician on a four-year Limited Term Contract (LTC) apprenticeship. You will combine practical workplace training with day release at University College Isle of Man (UCM), working towards a Level 3 City & Guilds qualification while learning to maintain and repair Government vehicles, plant, machinery and specialist equipment under the guidance of experienced technicians.
Duties
- Complete the four-year apprenticeship programme and work towards becoming a qualified Senior HGV Technician.
- Attend University College Isle of Man (UCM) on day release and work towards a Level 3 City & Guilds qualification.
- Build and maintain a portfolio of evidence towards your qualification.
- Learn to service, maintain and repair Government vehicles, plant, machinery and specialist equipment.
- Learn to inspect, diagnose and repair vehicles to manufacturers' and industry standards.
- Work alongside experienced Senior HGV Technicians and receive on-the-job mentoring.
- Learn to use and maintain workshop tools, equipment and PPE safely.
- Develop knowledge of health and safety procedures within a professional workshop.
- Learn to prioritise workloads and work effectively as part of a team.
- Build positive relationships with customers, contractors and colleagues.
- Attend training courses, seminars and events as required.
- Follow Shared Fleet Services and UCM policies, procedures and professional standards at all times.

- Awareness of health and safety in the workplace.
- Understanding of customer service.
- Isle of Man Worker status.
- Satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
