Job Purpose: To train as an Electrician by gaining hands-on experience and classroom learning, developing the skills and knowledge needed to install, maintain and repair electrical systems across a range of government buildings.
Duties
- Assist with installing, maintaining and repairing electrical systems
- Learn how to identify faults and fix electrical issues
- Support testing and inspection of systems to ensure safety and performance
- Work alongside qualified electricians and other trades
- Attend college (UCM) to complete required qualifications
- Follow health and safety rules at all times
- Help with general tasks and work with external contractors when needed
- Keep records and coursework up to date for apprenticeship requirements
- Take part in team meetings and contribute to a positive team environment
- Be reliable, punctual and maintain confidentiality
- Be flexible, including occasional overtime or unsocial hours
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 2 GCSEs (or expected) at Grade C or above including English and Maths
- Good communication skills
- Willingness to learn and be self-motivated
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Professional attitude and ability to build positive relationships
- Reliable, honest and hardworking
- Positive attitude with energy and motivation
- Able to follow instructions and make sensible decisions
- Flexible with working hours
- Willing to complete college course and apprenticeship requirements
- Able to pass required pre-employment checks (including police check)
Desirable skills
- Interest or some experience in building systems or electrical work
- Driving licence (or willing to gain within first 2 years)
