Job Purpose: Support the efficient running of the Passport, Immigration and Nationality services. You will process applications, provide administrative support and deliver a friendly and professional service to customers. The role may also involve attending the Airport and Sea Terminal to support Immigration Border Control duties.  

Duties  
- Check and process passport applications in line with policies and legislation.
- Check applicants’ identity and eligibility for British passports and citizenship.
- Interview first-time adult passport applicants.
- Deal with passport enquiries in person, by telephone and in writing.
- Process emergency passport applications and provide out-of-hours support when required.
- Process Naturalisation and Registration applications for British citizenship.
- Check documents, maintain accurate files and update computer systems.
- Contact referees and help progress nationality applications.
- Help arrange citizenship ceremonies and take part when required.
- Maintain and update immigration records and files.
- Check and accept applications for visa extensions.
- Support Immigration Officers with general and enforcement enquiries.
- Provide Immigration Border Control support at the Airport and Sea Terminal when required.
- Handle payments, including daily balancing and banking.
- Work closely with organisations including the Police, HM Passport Office and UK Home Office.
- Maintain confidentiality and follow relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
- Attend training and meetings on or off Island when required.

- Excellent accuracy and attention to detail.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office, with the ability to learn specialist computer systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and sound judgement.
- Professional, respectful and discreet when handling sensitive information.
- Honest, reliable and able to act with integrity.
- Ability to work well as part of a small team.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt to changing demands.
- Polite, positive and resilient when dealing with customers.
- Self-motivated and able to use your own initiative.
- Flexible about working hours, including occasional out-of-hours duties.
- Ability to travel to the Airport or other ports when required.
- Basic understanding of the Isle of Man's relationship with the UK and EU.
- Ability to pass the required Home Office Security Clearance Check.

Desirable Skills
- Previous office experience.
- Previous customer service experience.
- Experience working in a regulatory environment and following policies and procedures.
- Experience working with senior officers and/or politicians.
- Evidence of continued professional development.
- Isle of Man Worker status.
