Job Purpose: Provide administrative support for the Legal Aid Scheme by processing claims and payments accurately, maintaining records, and delivering a high standard of customer service to advocates, applicants and members of the public.
Duties
- Assess Legal Aid claims and process payments in line with financial regulations.
- Check supporting evidence and verify the accuracy of claims.
- Request additional information and documentation from applicants and advocates.
- Request and review files where required to ensure compliance with Legal Aid guidelines.
- Maintain accurate paper and electronic records.
- Respond to enquiries from members of the public, advocates and other organisations.
- Meet individual performance targets and service standards.
- Attend team meetings, one-to-one meetings and training sessions.
- Provide cover for other members of the team during periods of leave.
- Produce statistical information and reports when required.
- Contribute to reviewing and improving processes using LEAN principles.
- Follow health and safety, confidentiality, information governance and data protection requirements.
- Carry out other duties appropriate to the role when required.

- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Logical and analytical approach to work.
- Ability to inspire and motivate others.
- Isle of Man Worker status.
