Job Purpose: Provide administrative support for the Emergency Dental Service, acting as the first point of contact for patients without access to a regular dentist. Help ensure patients receive timely emergency appointments while supporting the smooth and efficient delivery of the service.
Duties
- Act as the first point of contact for patients requiring emergency dental care.
- Answer telephone enquiries and assess patient needs using agreed procedures.
- Allocate emergency dental appointments in line with service guidelines.
- Maintain and update rotas for NHS dental practices providing emergency appointments.
- Provide information and signpost patients to appropriate dental services.
- Maintain accurate patient records and appointment information.
- Collect and collate service activity data and support audit processes.
- Track appointment utilisation and prepare information for reports.
- Respond to enquiries from patients, dental practices and internal teams.
- Handle confidential patient information in line with data protection requirements.
- Escalate safeguarding or clinical concerns to the line manager when required.
- Assist with recording and monitoring patient complaints.
- Provide administrative support to the Dental & Ophthalmic Services Manager.
- Complete mandatory training and participate in performance reviews.
- Carry out other administrative duties appropriate to the role.

- Minimum of five GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above, including English and Maths.
- Experience or knowledge of dental services.
- Experience working with financial data.
- Experience working with data and spreadsheets.
- Experience in customer service and dealing with complaints.
- Analytical and organised approach to administration.
- Isle of Man Worker status.
