Job Purpose: Support older people attending Manx Care day centres by helping them stay active, social and independent. You will support people with a range of needs, including dementia and mobility difficulties, through activities, community outings and personal care. You will also provide valuable respite and support for carers.  
 
Duties
- Support service users in a caring, respectful and person-centred way.
- Help plan and take part in social, recreational and community activities.
- Encourage independence and support people to make choices.
- Assist with personal care, meals, hygiene and continence support where required.
- Escort service users on transport and community outings.
- Support people with dementia and other complex needs.
- Maintain accurate paper and electronic records.
- Work closely with families, carers and healthcare professionals.
- Attend team meetings, reviews and training sessions.
- Follow health and safety, safeguarding and medication procedures.
- Respond calmly and appropriately in emergency situations.
- Be flexible to work across different Older People’s Services locations on the Isle of Man.

Essential Skills
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Basic IT skills including Word and Outlook.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Positive, caring and professional attitude.
- Reliable and trustworthy.
- Commitment to training and development.
- Understanding of dignity, respect and person-centred care.
- Physically able to carry out the duties of the role.
- Satisfactory Police Check.
- Willingness to complete Care Certificate and RQF Level 3 qualification if not already achieved.

Desirable Skills
- Experience supporting vulnerable adults in a care or community setting.
- Experience working with older people with dementia, stroke or mobility needs.
- Basic First Aid training.
- Moving and Handling training.
- Dementia Awareness training.
- Ability to communicate effectively with families and professionals.
- Isle of Man Worker status.
