Product Engineer
Product Engineers are responsible for designing and creating new products, and also modifying/refining designs on existing products.
Engineering is a challenging and rewarding career. From your mobile phone to the furniture you sit on, everything we see and touch around us is likely to have been engineered.
Day-to-day Tasks
- researching new product ideas
- developing product designs
- creating drawings and specifications for products
- ensuring products meet safety and quality standards
- coordinating with other engineers, marketing and sales staff
- arranging product testing and Quality Assurance trials
- liaising with clients and stakeholders to write product specifications
- ensuring that product designs meet legal requirements
- presenting design ideas to stakeholders
- overseeing the manufacturing process to ensure it's safe and efficient
Skills and Knowledge
You’ll need:
- advanced knowledge of engineering science and technology

- design skills and knowledge
Industry Qualifications
- A degree in engineering (normally mechanical engineering)
- A time served engineering apprentice with a number of years’ experience within the industry
