Manx BirdLife is dedicated to the conservation of birds and their habitats on the Isle of Man.
We are currently seeking a Chough Census Fieldworker to help conduct an essential full island census of breeding and non-breeding Choughs, contributing directly to our ongoing efforts to protect this iconic species.
As the Chough Census Fieldworker, your primary role will be to locate and record Chough nesting sites across the Isle of Man.
In addition to the fieldwork, you will be responsible for
- supporting volunteers
- obtaining necessary permissions
- managing data entry
- assisting in the preparation of the final Chough Census report.
Key tasks and responsibilities are to
- locate and record nesting Choughs
- provide guidance to survey volunteers, assisting them in locating and recording Chough nesting sites
- liaise with landowners to obtain necessary permissions for conducting surveys on private land
- accurately input and manage nest record data into relevant databases and spreadsheets
assist in compiling survey data and preparing the Chough Census report for publication.
Essential Experience for this role includes a proven track record in nature conservation, particularly in the field of bird monitoring, experience conducting bird surveys, including surveys of nesting sites and a strong proficiency in using spreadsheets (e.g., Excel) and databases for data entry and analysis.
