Summary: Help keep the Wildlife Park safe, clean, and well-maintained for animals and visitors. You’ll carry out general repairs, assist with enclosures, operate tools and small machinery, and help with basic gardening and upkeep tasks.
Main Responsibilities:
- Basic repairs to fences, gates, paths, and enclosures
- Install shelves, signs, and basic fittings
- Gardening: mowing, leaf blowing, strimming
- Support staff with DIY and upkeep tasks
- Collect supplies and run errands in the park van
- Operate tools and small equipment (e.g. tractors, if trained)
- Keep work areas tidy and follow Health & Safety rules
- Be flexible and help out in emergencies (e.g. bad weather)
- Deal politely with the public, including children
- Work every other weekend (extra pay applies)
Essential Skills and Requirements:
- Good DIY/joinery skills
- Experience using hand and power tools
- Able to fix and install fencing, gates, and signs
- Problem-solving ability
- Health & Safety awareness and risk assessment skills
- Team player with good communication
- Positive, helpful, and reliable
- Flexible with working hours
- Physically fit
- Full valid driving licence
- Willing to undertake training
- Pass police check
Desirable Skills:
- Trade or construction experience
- Experience with gardening or landscaping
- Familiar with maintaining equipment
- Able to operate mini-tractors or similar machinery
- Isle of Man Worker status
