Job Summary: Join the Progress Zone team to support students with additional and complex needs across the school. Work mainly in the classroom, helping students learn, feel safe, and be included. You'll assist teachers, supervise students, and support learning both in and outside the classroom.
Key Responsibilities:
- Help students with personal care, health, and social needs
- Support learning, encourage participation, and promote independence
- Assist teachers with classroom tasks and managing behaviour
- Prepare and organise learning materials and resources
- Follow safeguarding, safety, and confidentiality procedures
- Support school activities, including trips and lunchtimes
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Maths and English at GCSE (Grade C/4) or equivalent
- Experience working with or caring for children/young people
- Ability to relate well to students and staff
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Patience, resilience, and a caring attitude
- Good timekeeping and reliability
- Interest in supporting students with additional needs
- Ability to manage classroom behaviour and promote independence
Desirable Skills & Experience:
- Experience in a secondary school setting
- Understanding of safeguarding practices
- Familiarity with learning support strategies
- Use of ICT in a classroom setting
- First aid training
- Isle of Man Worker status
